Well, I just wanted to keep you updated on what I'm up to right now, so here it goes: I just recently took part in recording voice-overs for a new children's TV cartoon pilot, I performed at an instore performance for Breast Cancer Awareness, and I've been writing, writing, writing. Recording a voice-over was by far one of the weirdest things I think I've ever done. I had to say the same lines up to 20 times with slightly different voices, inflections, or volumes each time. The words ended up losing their meaning to me after a while, and I had no clue what I was saying anymore! I was a stuffy-nosed bear and a "ferocious" tiger (I'll let you imagine what those voices sounded like...). And as if speaking in these crazy voices wasn't enough, I also had to sing with them - now that was interesting. Staying in character was kind of hard, but before I said each line the studio engineer, Mr. Mike, would play a line I had previously recorded so I could get the sound in my head. Once I got over the initial "I'mgoingtolooklikesuchanidotrightnow" stage, I really got into it, and it was like acting on a stage except my only instrument was my voice. I was feeling pretty good once I got into the groove of things, but then whenever Mr. Mike talked to me over the microphone, I could hear my parents cracking up in the background. ...Oh, how I love my family... However, all in all this was a really cool experience and I would totally do it again.
I've currently been rehearsing for All Souls' Harvest Festival which I will be playing at on Saturday, November 6 at 5:00 PM. I will be playing on the same bill as the band Orleans ("Still the One", "Dance with Me", and "Dancing in the Moonlight"). I'd really appreciate it if you could come on out and/or tell anyone and everyone you know to come, too. See you there!
